Prime for Life® Curriculum
Inside the Digital myPrime® Class
Blue Mountain Education offers the official digital Prime for Life class, also known as myPrime. This evidence-based motivational program is designed for people who may be making high-risk alcohol or drug choices, including individuals completing an impaired-driving or other court-related education requirement.
The curriculum helps participants examine how beliefs, attitudes, risk perceptions, and motivation influence their choices. Its goal is to provide practical knowledge participants can use to reduce their risk of alcohol- and drug-related problems throughout their lives.
A Prevention and Intervention Curriculum
Prime for Life combines prevention and intervention concepts so participants can consider both their current choices and the risks those choices may create. The digital curriculum can benefit people with different levels of risk, from those seeking reliable prevention information to those already experiencing consequences related to alcohol or drug use.
Rather than assuming that every participant has the same experience, the program provides information and guided self-reflection that help each person evaluate their own situation.
An Evidence-Based, Motivational Approach
Prime for Life was developed using research about how people change, along with extensive program evaluation. Its motivational approach combines new understanding with personal reflection to help participants reconsider high-risk beliefs, perceptions, and behaviors.
Learning about the potential risks associated with alcohol and drug choices can help people protect what matters to them. The curriculum presents this information without scare tactics or moralizing, giving participants a foundation for making their own informed decisions.
A Nonjudgmental Learning Experience
People are more open to change when they do not feel judged. The digital Prime for Life curriculum uses inclusive, respectful language and encourages participants to examine how their choices may be affecting their lives.
The program recognizes that people have reasons for their beliefs and behaviors. Through new information, self-evaluation, and support for change, participants are invited to consider choices that may lower their risk.
Who the Digital Curriculum Can Serve
The digital Prime for Life class may be appropriate for:

What Participants Learn
As they move through the digital curriculum, participants:
- Explore how personal choices and other influences combine to affect outcomes.
- Learn a practical tool for making lower-risk choices.
- Have time to absorb and process the information at their own pace.
- Self-assess their current risk level and patterns of alcohol or drug use.
- Identify what they value and consider how to protect those priorities.
- Reflect on new beliefs that may support positive change.
How Prime for Life Supports Change
Research evaluations, participant feedback, and decades of program experience indicate that Prime for Life can help change high-risk attitudes, beliefs, risk perceptions, and behaviors. Research has also associated the program with reduced recidivism and increased abstinence.
The curriculum does not make decisions for participants. It gives them information and a structured opportunity to consider how their choices align with the lives they want to protect.
